About Urbany's Custom Construction
Greg Urbany, president of Urbany’s Custom Construction, Inc., obtained an Associates in Arts degree in Construction Technology back in 1976 in Torrance, California, graduating in the top 3 of his class. After school, Greg decided to leave the big city (Los Angeles), and relocated to Sun Valley, where he has been practicing his profession ever since. It wasn’t long after moving to Idaho that he discovered he knew at least as much as the general contractors he’d gone to work for, and with a family history of small business entrepreneurs, decided to strike out on his own.
Since opening its doors in 1980, Urbany’s Custom Construction, Inc., has been engaged primarily in high end residential custom home projects in the Sun Valley/Ketchum, Idaho area. Our attention to detail, coupled with an obsession with perfectionism, a service oriented focus, and a conscientious attitude, have been a key to our success and continued growth. We discovered early on that constant communication with our clientele (often living away from the Sun Valley area) during the construction process was key. We pride ourselves in our communication practices, and are always available to our clients whenever they need us.
Greg Urbany has been married since 1977, and has raised 2 children in the Wood River Valley. He was fire chief of the Wood River Rural Fire Protection District in 1981- 82, and had a hand in laying out many subdivisions for fire safety- i.e., fire hydrant locations, fire access roads, and also did residential fire safety inspections. He has taught carpentry through the Blaine County Community Education programs, and has held a seat on the Blaine County Drug Free School Committee. Greg’s many years as a licensed pilot have benefited him in both business and pleasure. As with most of the residents living in the beautiful Wood River Valley, Greg and his family participate in a wide variety of year round outdoor activities.
